Darby Allin has been with All Elite Wrestling since 2019, and he took his career to the next level a few weeks ago when he defeated MJF to become the new AEW World Champion.
It seems that Darby Allin is determined to prove himself as a fighting champion as he defended the AEW World Championship against Tommaso Ciampa on Dynamite this week, and he’s also set to defend the belt against Brody King on next week’s show. Despite Darby’s long run with AEW there are some people out there who have criticized the decision to put the title on him due to his size.
Brian Cage recently responded to the criticism, and he showed support for Darby when he posted the following:
“I’ve noticed some criticism over @DarbyAllin winning the @AEW title. First and foremost, this guy absolutely deserves it. He’s not only a phenomenal in ring worker and bleeds aew, but this guy is the epitome of getting yourself over. Darby kills himself week after week, in a new, creative, and destructive way. Yet somehow gets back up, again and again.
I’m “the” bodyguy, and yes, Darby is very small. But he has fought harder than anyone to get the people behind him, and has become very believable in his matches. So huge stamp of a approval from me to have him as world champion. And bonus points for the shock pop and the call back headlock takeover finish.”
