AEW has signed a number of talented names since the company first launched in 2019. Some members of the All Elite Wrestling roster have been there from the beginning and Rey Fenix happens to be one of them.

Since signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2019, Rey Fenix has gone on to win the International Championship, World Tag Team Championship and World Trios Championship, but it looks like his run with the company could be coming to an end sooner than later.

It’s no big secret that Rey Fenix is unhappy with his situation in AEW. Last year it was reported that Fenix was expected to make the jump to WWE when his contract expired, but his deal was extended due to injury time.

Over the last week or so AEW has parted ways with a number of wrestlers for various reasons including Malakai Black, Ricky Starks, Miro and Bear Boulder. It was recently reported that the company considered releasing Rey Fenix, but ultimately decided against it.

Dr. Chris Featherstone is now reporting that negotiations between Rey Fenix and Tony Khan regarding Fenix ending his run with the company are progressing, and a resolution is expected to happen soon. According to the report Tony Khan has been advised to “put an end” to Rey Fenix’s holding period in AEW.

Amid reports of Fenix’s AEW departure last year it was rumored that WWE had interest in The Lucha Bros. Ultimately Penta ended up signing with WWE after moving on from All Elite Wrestling, and he’s quickly becoming one of the top stars on the Monday Night Raw brand.

If Rey Fenix does indeed part ways with AEW it will be interesting to see if he ends up signing with WWE. While Penta is finding success as a singles star The Lucha Bros. could easily enhance WWE’s tag team division as well.
