It’s been a year since former United States Champion Matt Riddle was released from WWE. Since getting released Riddle has worked with a number of promotions and he recently told Sports Illustrated that he ran into Tony Khan back in April at NJPW Windy City Riot.
“I talked to Tony. I don’t know if he likes me. He seemed happy. I wrestled Zach Sabre Jr. in Chicago. He seemed cool about it. I don’t know. When you meet me, I’m very sarcastic. But when I met him, I was like, ‘Oh, you like that match’?
“But I said it a different way, and he looked at me all confused. And I was like, ‘Never mind, dude’. I just walked away. So that was my experience with that.”
Fightful Select reports that Tony Khan hasn’t had any interest in bringing Matt Riddle into All Elite Wrestling. It was also noted that AEW talent almost never work with Riddle, but when they do it’s in Mexico.
Matt Riddle has confirmed that he’s had talks with Total Nonstop Action and sources at the company have said that they’re hopeful he could appear. Riddle has wrestled in MLW and NJPW, but is not currently under contract.
