The wrestling world has been buzzing about the debut of AEW Collision and this week it was announced that the first episode will air live on June 17th. However, Tony Khan announced on Dynamite that the location for the first show won’t be revealed until next week.

There seems to be a lot of confusion following the announcement as it was heavily rumored for weeks that CM Punk would be returning for the debut episode and that it would take place from the United Center in Chicago. Recently it was reported that Punk and AEW are at odds once again over the status of Ace Steel which led to Punk being pulled from the press release for the Collision announcement.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that AEW has been in contact with Daily’s Place which could be a possible backup location for Collision. The belief is that the CM Punk situation will need to be resolved by Wednesday and if it isn’t then the show won’t take place from the United Center. A decision will likely be made over the next week.

The feeling is that the United Center won’t be the right place for Collision’s debut unless CM Punk is involved because fans will be disappointed if he’s not there. It was also noted that if CM Punk isn’t part of the event and AEW still holds Collision at the United Center then they likely won’t be able to sell enough tickets on short notice.
