Rey Mysterio has been lucky enough to have a long career in the professional wrestling business and throughout his career he’s defeated some of the top names and held some of the most prestigious title belts ever created.
But things haven’t exactly been going Rey Mysterio’s way as of late as he recently lost to Andrade on Raw and then he got beat down by Dolph Ziggler the next night on SmackDown Live.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE’s mentality is that since Rey Mysterio is 44 years old the plan is to use him to put new guys over.
It was also noted that if Rey Mysterio decides to leave in the future AEW would obviously be interested, and he wouldn’t be abused in terms of booking because the people who work there love him.
Rey officially signed a new contract with WWE in September of 2018, and when he signed his deal was for 18 months.
