A few weeks ago Rey Mysterio defeated Samoa Joe to win the WWE United States Title for the very first time in his career, and after the match Joe beat Rey down.
Unfortunately Rey suffered an injury during the post-match beat down, and he’s currently out of action due to a separated shoulder.
It was announced recently that Rey Mysterio would be vacating the United States Championship, and he showed up on Raw this week to do just that.
Mysterio walked down the ramp while wearing a sling, and as he was about to officially vacate the title, Samoa Joe interrupted him.
Joe said Rey wasn’t vacating the title due to injury, he was vacating the title because he never beat him.
Rey told Joe to give him a moment, then he announced he was vacating the title, and giving it to Joe.
He placed the belt on the mat, and told Joe that he’ll be back. Rey looked like he was going to exit the ring, but Joe attacked him and locked in the Coquina Clutch.
