The last few years have proved that you can truly never say never in the world of professional wrestling. Many fans never thought Sting would sign with WWE, but he did, and many thought Goldberg would never return, but he did.
Now it looks like we could be seeing another unlikely return in the future, as PWInsider is reporting that Vince McMahon is interesting in bringing former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio back to the company.
According to the report, Alberto was at WWE HQ in Stamford, CT, last week filming material for an upcoming project related to Rey Mysterio, and while he was there he met with Vince McMahon.
It’s being reported that Vince is “very much for” an Alberto Del Rio WWE return, and he’s always been very high on the character.
Alberto left WWE after requesting his release in 2016, and he continually bashed the company while proclaiming that he would never return. But once again, you can never say never in the world of professional wrestling.
The former WWE Champion joined Impact Wrestling in March of 2017, but his current contract is set to expire in a few weeks.
Impact officials recently met with talents who have deals that will be expiring soon, including Alberto, and it was noted that the contract talks were positive.
As of right now Alberto is set to challenge Austin Aries for the Impact Global Championship at Redemption on April 22, but we’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for him.
