As we continue down the entertaining Road To WrestleMania there are always going to be a few curveballs thrown at us. It turns out WWE could have some big plans for WrestleMania 34 by including two huge multi-person matches.
We previously reported WWE was reportedly considering nixing the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and just holding a women’s over-the-top-rope contest. But it turns out WWE has some big plans for this year’s event as their strategy seems to be to use as many members of the WWE roster as possible for the big show in New Orleans.
“A couple of days ago I was talking about the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live. “I said there may not be one and there was gonna be a women’s battle royal, probably a Fabulous Moolah Battle Royal. Now again, let me preface this by saying I saw a lot of people on the internet saying that I stated there would not be a men’s battle royal. I did not say that. Until the WrestleMania card is finalized, who even knows?”
“But they have now been discussing a men’s and women’s battle royal at WrestleMania. So I guess one would be in the preshow, one on the main show. The show’s gonna be 6 hours long. We’ve got a lot of multi-person matches. The gimmick is to get as many people on the WrestleMania card as possible.”
“Have you been watching since before the Royal Rumble? I mean I don’t know all the way back to Money In The Bank? I mean they’re trying to get one of each on every show. And so now the discussions are a probably Fabulous Moolah Battle Royal with the women and a Andre The Giant Battle Royal with the men. So if you see a bunch of guys who don’t have a match right now for WrestleMania, they will probably be thrown in the battle royals.”
“Also, I heard discussions about them doing a ladder match which is also another multi-person match. So we’ll wait and see what they decide to do for WrestleMania.”
The addition of a women’s match would fit the trend of booking the same for women as they do men. But you have to wonder what WWE’s plan really is as we continue on the Road To WrestleMania.
