Stephanie McMahon has become a very important part of the WWE machine over the years, but just because her last name is McMahon, that doesn’t mean her success has come easy.
Stephanie recently appeared on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia, and she talked about what it’s like to work for WWE and be Vince McMahon’s daughter.
She admitted that the McMahon name has afforded her opportunities that she probably wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of had she not been born into the business. But she also noted that Vince expects her to be better than everyone else, and she’s almost been fired in the past.
“From Vince McMahon’s perspective, especially, you have to earn it even more because you’re his child,” she said. “You have to be better than everybody else and he puts you to that test every single day. I’ve almost been fired numerous times. It hasn’t always been pretty. I had to learn a lot along the way and I made a lot of mistakes along the way. And I think that the only way you truly grow and get better is by making mistakes. But as Vince says, you can make mistakes, just don’t make the same mistake twice.”
She also went on to say that her confidence was shook during a SmackDown taping in Boston during the WCW/ECW invasion angle after Vince told her she had to shoot her segment again in front of the live crowd.
“Apparently, it was just not at all what my father wanted,” she said in reference to the original take. “It was so embarrassing.”
Obviously Stephanie has learned from whatever mistakes she’s made in the past because she’s currently one of the most influential and powerful people in the company.
It’s hard to imagine WWE without Stephanie, but it looks like anyone can be fired from the company if they cross the boss, even if their name is McMahon.
