NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia was an event full of intense action and unpredictability around every turn. Many of the matches on the card left us blown away, especially the main event match with Andrade Cien Almas vs Johnny Gargano for the NXT Title. Almas scored the win after an incredible 5-star match before Tommaso Ciampa jumped Gargano at the top of the entrance ramp as the show went off the air.
The next couple of months for NXT’s television show was taped on Thursday and Friday this week at Center Stage in Atlanta and we’re looking at a stacked set of shows on the horizon for WWE’s developmental brand. While only a couple slots have been filled for the big TakeOver special during WrestleMania weekend there are already two big matches confirmed and it certainly looks like a few more great encounters are on the way as well.
NXT needs to bring a big show to New Orleans because if anything, they’re going to be in direct competition with ROH’s Supercard Of Honor show which will be headlined by Kenny Omega vs Cody. This pretty much guarantees that all eyes in the pro wrestling world will be looking at New Orleans on April 7th.
Aleister Black and Adam Cole had an intense confrontation at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia in an Extreme Rules match which saw Black emerging victorious. It looks like all of that hard work paid off because Aleister Black is booked for a NXT Title match against Andrade Cien Almas at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.
Another big confirmed match coming to New Orleans is a rematch between Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Title. Baszler jumped Moon after her loss at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia which obviously meant that feud is far from over.
Other possible matches for the big WrestleMania weekend TakeOver include the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and The Undisputed Era vs Pete Dunne, Roderick Strong, and another soon-to-be-named opponent.
It is also likely that Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa will do battle once more at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans as the two still have a lot to settle after the way it all went down in Philly, let alone how #DIY disintegrated after NXT TakeOver: Chicago.
