royal rumble

This year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view is loaded with big title matches, and it will be a historic event as it’s set to feature the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match. The women of the WWE are set to make history on Sunday, January 28, and the Royal Rumble pay-per-view itself is set to make history as well.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that this year’s Royal Rumble will set the record for most wrestlers working on a pay-per-view.

With 30 wrestlers in the men’s Royal Rumble, 30 wrestlers in the women’s Royal Rumble, and all of the wrestlers confirmed for title matches so far, there are 76 WWE Superstars set for the main card.

Of course that number could change as a Cruiserweight Title match is expected to be added, while some matches could be moved to the pre-show.

The WON notes that the previous record held for most wrestlers on a main PPV card was 60 held by the WCW World War III event which had a 60 man battle royal, and WrestleMania XXX which featured 60 people. WrestleMania 33 had a total of 70 people, but 33 were featured on the main show with another 37 on the pre-show.
