When you’re talking about WWE some of the best ideas might get swept under the rug for any number of reasons. WWE is a machine and creative works like a kitchen with many cooks all looking to add their own ingredients to the recipe.

Even though it often works out thanks to Vince McMahon running the office like Chef Gordon Ramsey turned up to 11, sometimes a really good recipe doesn’t get made.

One person who understands WWE’s creative process well is MLW’s Court Bauer. Court isn’t just the guy behind the MLW Radio Network. He was a writer for WWE for a number of years after starting in 1999 and saw his fair share of nixed storylines.

Court Bauer spoke to The World According To Wrestling podcast about one planned story involving Vince McMahon’s real-life brother Roderick. The unseen brother of Vince McMahon was supposedly going to emerge during the entire “Vince McMahon is dead” story after Vince’s limo exploded.

“I always think what could’ve been because we were gearing up to do something with Vince’s little-known brother Roderick,” Bauer said. “His family was going to come in the following week and be part of the funeral for Vince McMahon and I was always pushing that I would love to get another side of the McMahon family involved with WWE. I think it would’ve been fascinating because people forget that Vince has a brother and I think that that story would’ve been amazing.”

“How Vince the tycoon he is, the ruthlessly aggressive guy, you know, took over the family business.” Bauer continued, “His poor brother, what happened to him? And now there’s a refresh on the McMahon dynasty and all of the rivalries and stuff you could tell now, all of these new stories that are there because Roderick has children that you could play with in this setting.”

Bauer said the story might have also seen the introduction of Roderick’s children which could have resulted in some cousin vs cousin feuds between Shane and Stephanie versus their actual family members.

Unfortunately, the Chris Benoit tragedy would see the ending of the storyline before anything could really get off the ground.
