At WrestleMania 33, Brock Lesnar challenged Bill Goldberg for the Universal Championship, and The Beast Incarnate walked out with the belt. He’s been the reigning, defending Universal Champion ever since, and even though he doesn’t appear on WWE programming on a weekly basis, there’s no denying that his title defenses have been exciting so far.

Brock Lesnar defended his Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe in a fatal four way match at SummerSlam, and Braun destroyed The Beast, but Lesnar still walked out with the belt. Luckily for Strowman, he will get another chance to win the title when he faces Brock Lesnar one on one at the No Mercy pay-per-view in a few weeks.
Paul Heyman does a great job of hyping up Brock Lesnar’s title matches, and there’s no denying that he knows how to sell a match. But Heyman is, and always will be a controversial figure in the professional wrestling business.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Paul Heyman has a lot of pull with Vince McMahon, and he does often get Brock Lesnar’s segments changed. Heyman has a lot of input when it comes to Brock Lesnar’s programs, and the belief is that if Heyman wasn’t around Lesnar would be more apt to work his angles the way they are originally written instead of going with the changes.
Brock Lesnar will defend his belt against Braun Strowman at No Mercy, and although it’s unknown how the match will end, it seems unlikey that Heyman will want to go with a DQ finish.
