Enzo Amore is not only the Realest Guy In The Room, but he’s also a member of 205 Live now. It makes sense he was put on top of the division right off the bat because his name brings eyeballs to the show.
But after watching Enzo’s match on Raw, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville wasn’t impressed at all. He said if that’s the kind of competition he’s going to get for his title then he’s going to hold the belt forever and ever and ever and ever.
Truth be told, Enzo is a rather lackluster wrestler “he botched his own finish” Dave Meltzer pointed out on Wrestling Observer Radio. “I mean you give the guy a simple finish. I mean I don’t know — whatever.”
But of course, sometimes it doesn’t take amazing wrestling ability to get over with the fans.
Meltzer continued, “Here’s the deal, it’s not gonna work out from a match quality standpoint cause Enzo’s not very good. However he does come across as more of a star than anyone else there and there’s gonna be more interest in 205 Live cause he’s there.”
Most of pro wrestling is getting yourself over with the fans and it’s not all about wrestling quality. Even though being a good wrestler is down on the list of important things in pro wrestling Enzo’s case is still a bit confusing but still understandable at the same time.
Enzo does make a lot of merch money. If he’s able to shell out the kind of money he did to see McGregor vs Mayweather then just imagine how much WWE is making off of his multi-colored head.
Meltzer said Enzo will be the most over guy on 205 Live as he pointed out: “[Enzo] didn’t have good matches before and stayed over.” The fact is people are still fascinated by Enzo Amore and his addition to the 205 Live roster is an interesting one.
You could probably expect Enzo to do a lot of selling and let the quicker cruiserweights work around him. But if Enzo is going to be a real contender for Neville’s title he needs to do more than just sell other guys’ moves.
