Naomi won the SmackDown Women’s Championship back at Elimination Chamber, but she had to vacate the title a few days later after she was injured. Naomi made her return to the ring at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, and she managed to win back the title she never lost on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

At Battleground a few weeks ago, Natalya won a fatal 5-way elimination match to earn the right to challenge Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship Sunday night at SummerSlam, and it was Natalya who walked out with the gold. Both women put up a good fight, and Naomi pulled out all the stops, but it just wasn’t enough.
Near the end of the match, Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter, but Naomi reversed it and managed to use her legs to slam Natalya into the turnbuckle. Unfortunately Naomi wasn’t able to capitalize on the reversal, and after Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter once again, she couldn’t help but tap out.
Naomi is now the new SmackDown Live Women’s Champion.
