Brock Lesnar steps into the ring with Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe on Sunday night as he defends his Universal Championship in a fatal-four-way match at SummerSlam, but it seems that Dave Meltzer could have revealed WWE plans for the Universal Championship at No Mercy on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live.
WWE has dropped the hint that Brock Lesnar could be heading to UFC to fight Jon Jones, which is why there is the added stipulation that Lesnar will walk away from WWE if he loses at SummerSlam. Lesnar has missed the deadline for USADA’s drug testing pool earlier this year and now has to wait six months to be able to compete again, which means he won’t be returning to UFC until next year at the earliest.
This means that the likely outcome of the match is that Brock Lesnar will retain his Universal Championship on Sunday night and Meltzer then revealed that the plan is for Brock to go on and defend his Universal Championship against Braun Strowman at No Mercy next month.
Samoa Joe looks set to step into a feud with John Cena so the only member of the fatal-four-way that doesn’t have a feud moving forward is Roman Reigns, but WWE can easily find something for The Big Dog to do outside of the title picture.
