For years The Bella Twins were a package deal, but that all changed when Nikki had neck surgery. Nikki Bella missed a considerable amount of time in the ring and while she was recovering Brie decided to retire so she could focus on having a baby.
Nikki Bella has since returned to the ring, but Brie has not. However, Nikki has done just fine on her own over the past few months and she’s proved that she can entertain the fans with or without her sister by her side. The former WWE Divas Champion recently spoke to ESPN and she noted that although she’s adjusted to working alone, she misses working with Brie from time to time.
“In the beginning I kind of felt like lonely, and I kind of embraced it. Hey, now actually I can prove the people that I’m an individual, I just don’t have to be a Bella Twin to make a name for myself here. I can be Nikki Bella, Fearless Nikki, and I’ve really enjoyed that,” she said. “But there are moments like the Royal Rumble or different moments that I wish I could share with Brie, and I do miss seeing her out there. Like when I do tag matches [I think], ‘Oh I miss my sister Brie.’ So it has its ups and downs.”
Brie Bella retired after WrestleMania 32 and it’s rumored that Nikki will become a part time wrestler following WrestleMania 33.
Although life has changed quite a bit for The Bella Twins over the past few years, Brie seems thrilled about the fact that she will soon be a mother and Nikki sounds like she’s more than ready to become an aunt.
“I can’t wait. My sister has this amazing glow. I feel like this is my first child; she’s my identical twin too, so I’m very, very excited,” she said.
Nikki Bella has been feuding with Natalya for months now and next week on SmackDown Live she will face off against her rival in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
As for her WrestleMania 33 match, Nikki is expected to team up with her boyfriend John Cena to take on the team of The Miz and Maryse at the big event.
