Brock Lesnar made a huge impact when he debuted with WWE. He destroyed the roster and became WWE Champion in a matter of a few short months. His first run with the company was quite memorable and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that there was once an idea pitched that would have made Brock’s debut even more buzz worthy.
Apparently back in the day two writers for WWE Magazine pitched the idea to have Brock Lesnar debut as a gay character. The idea would see him avoid stereotypes and eventually come out as a gay man that could kick a lot of ass. The idea was that it would make WWE look progressive and it would also give the gay community a hero to cheer for. It’s also said that the heels would have used his sexuality to get heat.
When the idea made its way to the writer’s room it was then shut down. Some of the ideas were reportedly integrated into the Billy and Chuck characters.
Brock Lesnar has already created quite the legacy for himself in the world of professional wrestling but it sounds like his legacy could have been radically different if a few more important people had bought into this idea.
