According to Reddit user and former WWE backstage worker MetsFan4Ever, who has broke numerous stories in the past, Vince McMahon was furious over Byron Saxton’s work last week on Raw. After Brock Lesnar took out the commentary team Byron Saxton made his way out to do commentary alone which he was supposed to do for the rest of the show. Vince McMahon was reportedly unhappy with his performance and sent Jerry Lawler out to “breathe life into Byron.”
Michael Cole was also said to be in the gorilla position trying to coach Byron through the show but Vince felt Byron didn’t improve and was upset at him. Vince and Kevin Dunn reportedly feel that when Saxton was given a major opportunity, he did not “grab the brass ring.” When asked by a fan on Twitter if Vince really was upset with Saxton, mentioning the MetsFan report, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter said Vince was.
Both Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn are also said to be very high on Renee Young but want to keep her doing pre-show and backstage segments at the moment. There has been talk though that she may join the Raw commentary team sooner than later.
