This week’s episode of NXT was a massive show as the brand went head to head with AEW Blood and Guts. WWE loaded up the card with big names such as John Cena, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Paige.
Ahead of the show it was announced that Kehlani Jordan would be defending the NXT Women’s Championship against a mystery opponent, and that mystery opponent turned out to be Paige. Unfortunately for Paige she was unable to pick up the victory as Kehlani managed to defeat the challenger when she rolled her up for a three count after Paige attempted the Rampaige.
While talking about the match on Busted Open Radio following the show, Paige revealed that she was not originally planned for the match, and she claimed that she might have won if she had more time to prepare.
“I got called last minute. It wasn’t actually supposed to be me. Triple H pulled me aside in Brooklyn at the double taping and said, ‘Do you mind going down to NXT?’ I was like, ‘Oh s**t. Yeah, definitely.’ It didn’t give me much time to prepare. Maybe if I prepared a little bit more, I would’ve won. It is what it is. I know what to do next time if I get a little bit of time.”
Paige obviously has quite the history with NXT as she became the first ever NXT Women’s Champion in 2013. During her match with Kehlani Jordan, the commentary team pointed out that Paige never lost the belt as she was forced to relinquish the title after she won the Divas Championship in her main roster debut the night after WrestleMania 30.
