Earlier this year Jake Hager stepped into the world of Power Slap and unfortunately this venture doesn’t seem to be going well for the former World Heavyweight Champion. Hager faced off against Johnny Magna on September 18 at Power Slap 23, and Hager suffered a globe fracture, which required surgery.
Now Jake Hager’s fiance Patricia Blackburn has confirmed that he had to undergo surgery once again because he suffered a detached retina when she shared the following update with Slap News:
“It was discovered this week that Jake had a detached retina. He underwent surgery to reattach, which doctors have said went better than expected. Send your love and prayers to Jake and Patricia as they navigate a very sensitive and unpredictable recovery. Update provided by Jake’s fiancé, Patricia Blackburn.”
Power Slap co-owner Dana White recently commented on the injury and said, “That’s probably the worst injury we’ve had in the UFC, in Power Slap, anything.”
Jake Hager originally signed a 6 fight deal with Power Slap and his record currently stands at 1-2. It’s not clear at this point in time if he will be continuing with the company due to the severity of his recent injury.
Stay tuned for updates.
