Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship back in April, and with Crown Jewel coming up everyone has been wondering who The Tribal Chief could face in the annual champion vs. champion match at the event.
While Reigns has been holding down the top title on Raw for months now, the title scene on SmackDown recently went through a big shake up as Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion on last week’s episode. Sami Zayn’s win sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world and it sounds like the title change was part of a larger plan.
PWInsider is reporting that the belief among those in the company is that WWE is looking to book Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn for the Crown Jewel main event, which is why the Undisputed WWE Championship changed hands on SmackDown.
It was also noted that putting Sami Zayn in the spot against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel allows WWE to hold off on a CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns rematch following their night two main event at WrestleMania 42 back in April.
Sami Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time in his career a few months ago when he pinned Cody Rhodes at Night of Champions. However, his first reign ended after only nine days. If WWE does indeed move forward with plans for Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel in November that would seem to indicate that Sami could be getting a longer reign this time around.
