You never know who’s going to show up when you watch WWE programming and Zilla Fatu made his presence felt during the main event on NXT this week. Fatu’s signing had been rumored for some time and it looks like he will be keeping his name moving forward.
False Finish is reporting that sources have indicated Zilla Fatu was always expected to keep his name in WWE. It’s being said that there was never any talk of Zilla Fatu changing his name prior to his arrival in NXT, which is why commentary said his name outright when he debuted.
Numerous wrestlers have changed their name after signing with WWE such as Mike Santana who is now known as Cruz Montana, and EVIL who now uses the name Naraku. However, it doesn’t appear that Zilla Fatu will have to make a similar change as WWE has already released merchandise with his name on it.
This week’s episode of NXT featured a huge main event as Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana faced off to determine who would go on to challenge Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship at Heatwave. Zilla Fatu interfered which resulted in the match ending in a no contest.
Fatu made it clear that he also wants a shot at the NXT Championship, so it will be interesting to see how things play out with the title picture on the road to Heatwave.
