It’s always unfortunate when a wrestler gets sidelined due to injury, and Buddy Matthews has been out of action since February of 2025. He last stepped into the ring at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, but has been out of action due to a serious ankle injury.

Today Buddy Matthews confirmed that he has been cleared to return when he posted the following:

“Before stepping back into the ring, there was one final hurdle.

After suffering a serious ankle injury at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, Buddy Matthews begins the final stage of his comeback—getting medically cleared to compete again.

This video follows the process behind the scenes, from medical evaluations and rehabilitation to the moment he receives the news every athlete waits to hear. It’s a look at the physical and mental challenges of returning from injury, and what it takes to get back to doing what you love.

If you’ve ever faced setbacks, injuries, or doubted whether you’d make it back, this one’s for you.”

While Buddy Matthews has been cleared to return the same can’t be said for his wife Rhea Ripley. The Eradicator is expected to be out of action for a significant amount of time after undergoing surgery this week, and you can get more details on that here.
