It’s been a big year for Brock Lesnar as he stepped into the ring with Oba Femi for the first time at WrestleMania 42, and The Ruler picked up a decisive victory over The Beast Incarnate. After the match Lesnar seemingly retired when he took off his boots and gloves, left them in the ring and said goodbye to the fans.
However, Brock returned to WWE a few weeks later to continue his feud with Oba Femi, and he defeated The Ruler at Clash in Italy. On Sunday, Brock and Oba faced off for a third time inside Hell in a Cell and Oba defeated Brock once again. After the match Brock showed respect to Oba Femi as he told fans that Oba is the future of the business.
Brock Lesnar did not confirm his plans for the future one way or another at SummerSlam, but today he made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and officially announced his retirement.
“I’m here today to do this interview, to let the world and everybody know that I am retired. I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody. Saturday was a very emotional day for me. Kinda weird, cause I did, my heart, when Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, ‘I can’t do this again. I think I’m done.’ But the business, and I still had fuel in the tank, but Saturday for Brock Lesnar – that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle, and for everything else too.”

It had long been rumored that Brock Lesnar would be retiring at SummerSlam in Minnesota this year, and while he didn’t officially retire at the event, it appears that he has wrestled his last match. Following his match with Oba Femi at SummerSlam, WWE moved Lesnar’s profile to the alumni section on the company’s official website.
