On Saturday night Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi clashed inside Hell in a Cell and Oba Femi defeated The Beast Incarnate for the second time in his career. After the match Brock held Oba’s hand up and said that he is the past, and Oba is the future.
Heading into SummerSlam there was a lot of speculation that Brock Lesnar could be retiring at the event, but Triple H indicated the door is open for Lesnar to continue with WWE during the post-show press conference.
“I don’t know. You saw Brock in whatever way he retired a few months ago and then come back and do this. But for Brock to walk back to the ring, to bring Oba back in there with him, to put him over verbally and physically as, ‘This is the future of the business. This is the today. This is the now. This is the future, and I am the past.’ That’s a pretty bold statement. Brock doesn’t just say things.
Without reading into it any more than that, ‘I am the past’ is what he said. But you know as well as I do, Brock does what Brock wants to do. So I would take what he said at face value and let’s see.”
As of right now there’s currently no word on when Lesnar could return if he does indeed want to wrestle again, but it was recently reported that some within WWE believe he will resurface during the build to WrestleMania 43 next year.
