The WWE landscape has changed quite a bit in recent months as over two dozen wrestlers were released following WrestleMania. WWE has also been asking certain names to restructure their deals which has led to the departure of names like Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Now it seems that another longtime WWE star is set to part ways with the company after being asked to restructure his deal.
Fightful Select is reporting that Sheamus is set to leave WWE after his contract with the company expires. It was noted that he had turned down a contract extension, and was not released from WWE.
According to the report WWE approached Sheamus with a restructured contract while he was sidelined due to injury, and he swiftly rejected them. At the time he was approached his contract had months left on the deal, so there was no reason for a release with the standard 90 day non-compete clause.
Sheamus started with WWE back in 2006 and debuted on the ECW brand in June of 2009. A few months later he beat John Cena at the TLC premium live event to win the WWE Championship in December of 2009. Throughout his run with the company Sheamus managed to become a 3 time WWE Champion, 1 time World Heavyweight Champion, 3 time United States Champion, 5 time WWE Tag Team Champion, a King of the Ring winner, Money in the Bank winner, and he also won the 2012 Royal Rumble.
The Celtic Warrior last wrestled on the 11/17/2025 episode of Raw when he teamed with John Cena & Rey Mysterio to defeat the team of Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh.
At this point the exact date for the expiration of The Celtic Warrior’s contract is unknown. However, it is being reported that the deal is up soon. Stay tuned for updates.
