Over the weekend Sami Zayn did the unthinkable when he pinned Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. While Sami is currently enjoying his big moment it seems that the moment could potentially be short lived.
WWE taped Monday Night Raw in Atlantic City this week and immediately after the company taped this week’s episode of SmackDown. According to John Clark, Sami Zayn kicked off Friday Night SmackDown and criticized the fans for turning their back on him. Cody Rhodes then made his way out and congratulated Sami. The American Nightmare tried to leave, but Sami stopped him, and then Jey Uso entered the picture.
Jey hugged Sami and told him that he needs the Undisputed WWE Championship for the family. Sami Zayn told both Cody and Jey to get to the back of the line and stay away from him.
Adam Pearce then made his way out and announced that Sami Zayn will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship next week on Raw in Chicago against the winner of Cody Rhodes vs. Jey Uso, which is set for this week’s episode of SmackDown.
During the match Jey Uso apparently tweaked his knee and continued the match with a slight limp. It was noted that the match was fast paced with Rhodes and Uso quickly going from spot to spot. Ultimately Cody Rhodes connected with the Cross Rhodes on Jey Uso to win the match and secure a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship next week on Raw.
