It was a big weekend for the stars of WWE as the Night of Champions premium live event emanated from Saudi Arabia and the show featured some big moments to say the least.

When it was time for the main event Cody Rhodes put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line when he defended the belt against Sami Zayn and Gunther in a triple threat match, and ultimately it was Sami who pinned Cody to win the title for the first time in his career.

Following the match Gunther got into a heated confrontation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage, and after one thing led to another things got physical as Aldis shoved Gunther, and Gunther put hands on Aldis before they were separated.

Following the intense altercation between Gunther and Nick Aldis at Night of Champions, Michael Cole announced on Raw this week that both Gunther and Nick Aldis have been placed on leave. In Nick’s absence Adam Pearce will run both Raw and SmackDown while he’s away.

At this point it’s not clear when Nick Aldis, or Gunther will return to television, but many fans have naturally been speculating that this could potentially lead to a Gunther vs. Nick Aldis match at SummerSlam.

Nick Aldis first started working with WWE in August of 2023 as a producer and he later went on to be revealed as the new SmackDown General Manager in October of that same year. Aldis is an accomplished in-ring competitor as he’s held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as well as the TNA Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship, but has yet to compete inside the ring since joining WWE a few years ago.

Stay tuned for updates.
