For decades Vince McMahon was the man in charge of WWE, and he steered the creative ship for the company. Vince launched a number of WWE related shows, including Total Divas which premiered in 2013, and WWE spent a lot of time promoting it.

Former WWE star Celeste Bonin (Kaitlyn) recently recalled what Vince McMahon told the women’s division about Total Divas on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, and she claimed that he told them the show wouldn’t have any influence on WWE storylines. However, the women’s division quickly found out that wasn’t the case.

“Vince promised us, promised the women’s division, Total Divas is not going to have any influence on storylines. And then WrestleMania comes around, and that’s when they were debuting the show, and it literally took the place of a women’s title match on WrestleMania. So it was kind of like it set the tone for it.”

“So after that happened, I was just like, ‘Okay, the title doesn’t mean anything, what do I represent?’ I was just like, ‘I guess I don’t matter in this scheme of things.'”

Celeste Bonin originally signed with WWE in 2010, but later parted ways with the company in 2014. She recently opened up about her reasons for leaving and you can get more on that here.
