Chad Gable has been with WWE for over a decade as he first signed with the company back in 2013. Throughout his run with WWE he’s had his ups and downs, as he’s worked in a number of different roles on screen.
Last year Gable debuted the El Grande Americano gimmick, and he went on to become known as the Original El Grande Americano. Last weekend Gable was unmasked after he was defeated by the new El Grande Americano, and now everyone is wondering what’s next for him.
Jeff Jarrett recently discussed Chad Gable’s status on his My World podcast, and he explained why he thinks Gable should be getting ready to part ways with WWE.
“At the end of the day, I just don’t see WWE [pushing him]. He worked under the Vince [McMahon] regime, and obviously now he’s worked under the Triple H regime. They’re not all of a sudden magically going to go, ‘Oh yeah, he’s our guy.’ I don’t know what his real dollar value is right now, but we kind of know where things are headed with TKO across the board. To me, I would absolutely leverage that. And yes, New Japan is having new owners, but that’s going to have a WWE influence as well.
At the end of the day, I think timing is going to be so important because if he’s got a year left on his deal, that’s a lot of Mondays, Fridays, and premium live events to get through. And Chad lost his match. I think they said something to the effect that he got a big babyface reaction, so he’s going to have a little bit of a run.
But we understand they’ve got Triplemanía coming up, and they’ve got their tentpole events every year. I just think he needs to keep doing what he’s doing, but be ready to leave. I don’t see TKO coming to him and saying, ‘Hey man, you performed great in Monterrey. We’re going to give you a bump.’ I just don’t see that. I think he could monetize his talent more elsewhere, but we’ll see. That’s a tough question to answer a year out given these circumstances.”
