Celebrities are becoming more and more common on WWE programming in recent years, and it doesn’t look like the celebrity involvement is going to slow down anytime soon. Stephen A. Smith has previously said that he was offered an on screen role with WWE in the past, and it’s been rumored that he could be featured on WWE programming this summer.
A few weeks ago WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that ESPN sources are “pleased and enthusiastic” about the idea of Stephen A. Smith getting involved with WWE.
Dave Meltzer recently shared an update on the Stephen A. Smith situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he noted that internally people at WWE are favorable when it comes to the idea of Smith working with the company.
“We haven’t seen anything with Stephen A. Smith yet, although, boy, has that name been talked about, and I know it’s serious talk. Put it this way, a lot of the people who were not happy about Pat McAfee, in fact, are favourable to Stephen A. As far as internally, it goes.”
At this point in time it’s not clear when Stephen A. Smith could be making appearances on WWE programming, or what the company might have planned for him.
Stay tuned for updates.
