WrestleMania season was eventful to say the least, and Roman Reigns managed to defeat CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion in night two main event on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
It didn’t take long for Roman’s first challenger to step up as Jacob Fatu has made it clear that he wants a shot at The Tribal Chief’s belt, and their rivalry has become heated in recent weeks.
After a few minutes of back and forth Roman Reigns connected with a Superman Punch, but Jacob no sold it and kicked out at one. Reigns looked shocked as the fans chanted “Fatu!” The action spilled to the outside and Jacob powerbombed Roman Reigns through the announce table. He threw Roman back in the ring and Roman hit a spear out of nowhere for a two count.
Roman got back up and called for another spear, but Jacob Fatu picked him up and hit The Tribal Chief with the Samoan Drop followed by a moonsault. Roman kicked out at two.
Jacob became frustrated as he repeatedly struck Roman Reigns with a series of headbutts and right hands. He went to the top rope for a Swanton Bomb and Roman got his knees up. Roman managed to block the move, but sold a knee injury after.
Fatu locked in the Tongan Death Grip and wore Roman down. Roman foguth back and gouged Jacob’s eyes then pushed him into the referee in the corner. He connected with a Superman Punch followed by another, and another. He connected with another spear, but Jacob somehow kicked out again.
Jacob applied the Tongan Death Grip again, and in the scuffle Roman pulled off the top turnbuckle while trying to get out of of it. Jacob’s head went into the exposed turnbuckle then Roman hit another spear to win the match.
After the match Jacob was furious as he attacked the referee and Roman reigns. He applied the Tongan Death Grip to Roman and WWE officials came down to the ring. Fatu attacked several officials including Adam Pearce and he locked in the Tongan Death Grip on Roman Reigns.
Fatu left the ring, but the changed his mind as he returned and locked in the Tongan Death Grip again.
