Roman Reigns has been one of the top stars in WWE for years now, and he’s set to main event WrestleMania for the 12th time in his career when he challenges CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42. Following WrestleMania it looks like Roman will be moving on to a new feud as WWE already has a major opponent in mind for Reigns.
Dave Meltzer discussed future plans for Roman Reigns on Wrestling Observer Radio, and it was noted that the current plan is for The Tribal Chief to feud with Gunther.
“The plan is Roman Reigns as champion against Gunther. That was as of a week ago, midweek even. I don’t think it’s for Backlash, maybe SummerSlam, maybe something else. The only thing I was told, which I did know, is that Roman Reigns and Gunther was, as of like a week ago, a big direction that they thought was a big time major match.”
Gunther stepped into the ring during night 1 of WrestleMania 42 when he faced off against Seth Rollins in Seth’s first match since October of last year. Ultimately it was Gunther who picked up the win as he applied the sleeper hold and made Rollins pass out after Bron Breakker returned and hit Rollins with a spear.
