WrestleMania weekend is here and the main events are set. Randy Orton will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the night 1 main event, and Roman Reigns is set to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in the night 2 main event.
Ahead of WrestleMania 42, Jacob Heyman interviewed Paul Heyman and mentioned that Heyman isn’t involved with the main event this year. Paul went on to confirm that he was originally supposed to be part of the main event, but obviously plans were changed due to circumstances beyond his control.
“I don’t think it’s a big secret that everything was driving this year to be Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, and then that fell apart. And then it was going to be Bron Breakker vs. CM Punk, and that fell apart. I was in line to be a part of the main event, and fate intervened not once, but even twice.”
Heyman went on to say that he takes pride in being part of what he considers to be the real main event when he added, “I’d be less than candid if I didn’t admit I take pride in the fact that the most heavily anticipated match this year is what I call the real main event of WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi. But history won’t record that as a main event.”
It’s been confirmed that Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi will open night 2 of WrestleMania 42, and the match is set to be featured on ESPN. Stay tuned for updates.
