Oba Femi has been one of the stars to watch ever since he signed with WWE and he’s been featured in a prominent spot on the road to WrestleMania. The Ruler is currently set to face off against Brock Lesnar on the Grandest Stage of Them All, and everyone is talking about the big match as WrestleMania approaches.
The former NXT Champion’s real name is Isaac Odugbesan, and he took on the name Oba Femi when he signed with WWE in 2021. Ahead of WrestleMania, Femi spoke to CNN about his ring name and he explained the meaning behind it.
“Oba is the king, and in that name, it’s referencing God. And Femi is like ‘wants me.’ When you say, ‘This person Femi,’ that means they desire me or they want me. It’s a way of saying that one who’s after the king’s heart, or the one the king loves, God loves me. I love the meaning of the name.”
