WrestleMania 42 is a week away and several big title matches have been confirmed for the card. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship will be on the line as Nia Jax & Lash Legend are currently set to defend the belts against The Bella Twins, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss and Lyra Valkyrai & Bayley.
During the March 27th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Nikki Bella suffered an ankle injury when The Bella Twins faced off against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, and now her status for WrestleMania appears to be in jeopardy.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Nikki Bella has been rehabbing hard. However, it is not a sure thing that she will be able to step into the ring at WrestleMania 42, but WWE is hoping she’ll be ready for the show.
The belief is that since it’s WrestleMania if there is any possible way for Nikki to do the match, she’s going to do it. If she can’t then WWE will have to figure out what to do with Brie Bella.
While talking about the ankle injury with Angie Martinez on her YouTube channel Nikki admitted that she originally thought she had broken her ankle, but clarified that as of right now she’s dealing with a sprain.
“No, not at all [an ideal time]. I’ve been super bummed out about it. So, as of now, it’s a sprained ankle. We don’t know if it’s a high sprain or something else. I got an MRI. I’m waiting for the results.”
