It’s been an interesting month for Toni Storm as she defeated Marina Shafir at Revolution then got into a much talked about confrontation with Ronda Rousey. Storm was set to face Shafir on Dynamite last week, but she was written off TV after she was found laid out in the locker room, and it was later reported that Storm is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Toni Storm is not injured, but AEW wants to keep the reason for her absence under wraps. The situation reportedly came up on 3/18 on the day of Dynamite. Prior to that the plan was for Toni Storm to defeat Marina Shafir and go on to a title program with current AEW Women’s Champion Thekla.
When AEW found out that Toni Storm couldn’t wrestle they laid out the injury angle with the idea being that they could leave clues and tease multiple potential assailants.
Dave Meltzer also noted that he was told outright Tony Khan will not talk about the Toni Storm situation, nor will he talk about the story involving his company placing a bid to purchase WWE in 2023. Following the injury angle on television Toni Storm did a signing over the weekend and was not selling the injury at all.
