The WWE creative team went through a big shake up earlier this week as it was reported that Brian “Road Dogg” James decided to quit his job with the company. The Hall of Famer had been working as a co-lead writer for the Friday Night SmackDown, but he has walked away from the role.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Road Dogg received his annual review, and the belief is that he wasn’t happy with it, and left the company. It was noted that he may say he left for a different reason, but the decision to leave was his, and it came after his annual review. One person close to the situation said that it has been brewing.
Alexandra Williams recently announced that she has been promoted to Vice President and head writer for WWE Monday Night Raw. It’s being reported that while news of her promotion and Road Dogg’s departure broke at the same time, they are not related.
It was also noted that Brian James was going to make an appearance at a convention later this month, which was approved, but the approval was rescinded, so he had to cancel.
Throughout his time with WWE, Brian James has a held a number of roles including producer, lead writer, coach, and Senior Vice President of Live Events in addition to being a performer. As of this writing he is still being advertised for his appearance at WWE World in Las Vegas in April.
