A number of AEW stars have parted ways with the company in recent months and now it seems that another wrestler could be done with the promotion. Recently Danhausen got the wrestling world talking when he posted a photo of the genie from Aladdin becoming free, and another screenshot of the song “Freedom Slam” by the band Freedom.
The posts, which can be seen below, seem to imply that Danhausen could be free of his contract with AEW.

In vein and valor
be what they fear.
Their days are over
our nights are here.
With hate and heartache
I'll strike you down.
With rage and rapture
I crush your crown. pic.twitter.com/5uDh0cZmAV— Danhausen (@DanhausenAD) February 27, 2026
Heading into the Elimination Chamber premium live event WWE is teasing a big reveal for the show. Earlier this month a wooden crate debuted on WWE programming with a message that says “Do Not Open Until 2/28/26” which is the date of Elimination Chamber. It’s not clear what, or who, might be in the crate, but recent betting odds show Danhausen listed as the favorite for the reveal.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Danhausen is “absolutely not the kind of wrestler that Paul Levesque would want as a top star.” However, it’s being said that Danhausen could be a comedy character who would likely sell a lot of merchandise. Meltzer expected that ultimately the company would give Danhausen a try.
Danhausen first signed with All Elite Wrestling back in 2022. However, he has not been used in recent years. Fightful Select reported back in December that Danhausen’s contract with All Elite Wrestling was extended due to injury time last year, but was set to expire in February. As of this writing Danhausen is still listed on the AEW roster page.
Stay tuned for updates.
