AJ Styles has been one of the most active stars in the professional wrestling for decades now, but The Phenomenal One recently retired from in-ring competition at the Royal Rumble. Monday night on Raw, AJ told the fans that he’s a man of his word as he took his gloves off and left them in the ring.

Even though AJ Styles is no longer an in-ring competitor he confirmed on the Talk’n Shop podcast that he will continue to work with WWE. According to Styles he will be stepping into a different role as he wants to help out young talent behind the scenes.

“I am still going to be working with WWE. That’s not going to change. I have these dreams of helping out young talent. If somebody is not ready once they get there, it’s my job to hopefully help them get to that point to where they can do it, and they are confident when they step into a WWE ring. Being able to help with that is a blessing.”

Following AJ’s retirement match at the Royal Rumble, Triple H made it clear during the post-show that he wanted AJ Styles to stay with the company when he said, “I’m hoping that he will contribute, because again, he’s one of the most influential people in the business and one of the greatest minds in the business and I think when you see somebody like what Shawn Michaels is doing in NXT, I think that’s a path and a career for AJ Styles, beyond this period that he’s in.”

AJ Styles also shut down rumors of a possible jump to All Elite Wrestling and you can get more on that here.
