AJ Styles was lucky to have a long career in the world of professional wrestling, but his in-ring career seemingly came to an end when Gunther defeated The Phenomenal One in a career threatening match at the Royal Rumble premium live event last month.
Following his retirement match at the Royal Rumble, AJ Styles has been off TV, but WWE confirmed recently that he will be appearing on Raw next week for a special tribute episode.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that SmackDown talent will be flown into Raw for the AJ Styles celebration in Atlanta next week.
In addition to AJ’s appearance on Raw next week, Brock Lesnar has also been confirmed for the event, and the following Elimination Chamber qualifying matches are set to take place:
– Raquel Rodriguez vs. IYO SKY vs. Kairi Sane
– Bronson Reed vs. Jey Uso vs. Original El Grande Americano
Earlier this month Styles appeared on What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon and opened up about his in-ring future when he said, “I don’t know. I don’t know. Never say never, right? That’s the saying. I think everybody’s allowed at least once to come out of retirement. I’m not saying that I’ll do it anytime soon. What if my son wrestles? The opportunity to tag with him once, you never know. So, there’ll be a time when the gloves never go back on. It may be now, but we’ll see.”
