The Royal Rumble has come and gone, but the show set the stage for WrestleMania in a big way. Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan won their respective Royal Rumble matches and they will now go on to the Grandest Stage of Them All.
It seems that everyone has an opinion on this year’s Royal Rumble and Stephen Amell recently explained to iHeartRadio Canada’s Myles Galloway why he thought the show was bad.
“I thought the Rumble was bad. Listen, not every show can be great. I thought that night two of WrestleMania last year — and I was there — I thought that that was like an A+ night of wrestling. I thought, top to bottom, tip to tail, it was great.
I thought that this Rumble was — I just didn’t think it was great. And I just thought that the atmosphere, it seemed weird. Like the arena was kind of empty, or was it? It was just optically, like the way that it looks and presents is important, and I thought that it looked and presented poorly relative to previous Rumbles.
I’ve been to, I think, the last three prior to this — in San Antonio, Tampa, and Indianapolis. And those shows were awesome. And the atmosphere was great.”
Stephen Amell hasn’t wrestled an official match since he stepped into the ring with Christopher Daniels at the first ever All In pay-per-view in 2018, but he was still heavily invested in the wrestling world in the years that followed as he was one of the main characters in the series Heels.
Amell also teased that he will be making a cameo at WrestleMania 42 when he said, “I’m not up to date with AEW. I’m certainly up to date with WWE. We are on the road to WrestleMania. I think I’m going to make a cameo on night two at WrestleMania this year.”
