WrestleMania season is underway and the card for WrestleMania 42 has been coming together in recent weeks. Roman Reigns won the 30 man Royal Rumble match and he confirmed on the following episode of Raw that he will be challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
The 30 man Royal Rumble match featured some interesting moments to say the least as El Grande Americano came face to face with the original El Grande Americano. It appears that the El Grande Americano vs. Original El Grande Americano feud is set to continue for some time as WrestleVotes revealed during a recent Q&A session that the two masked men are set to face off at WrestleMania 42.
“WWE sees the money here. This is making the Mania card. It’s a surefire WrestleMania match. It makes the WrestleMania card either way.”
Chad Gable had originally been working as El Grande Americano until he was sidelined due to an injury last summer. In his absence Ludwig Kaiser took on the El Grande Americano gimmick. Gable returned to the ring for the first time since June of last year when he entered the men’s Royal Rumble match as The Original El Grande Americano, and he set the stage for their potential match in a big way when he eliminated El Grande Americano.
The El Grande Americano gimmick has been heavily debated among fans ever since it debuted on WWE programming as some people seem to enjoy it, while others don’t. One way or another it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of this rivalry on the road to WrestleMania 42.
