We’re currently on the cusp of WrestleMania season and business is expected to pick up for the WWE roster in the coming weeks. Recently the title picture has been shaken up and it looks like a new challenger could be emerging sooner than later.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is reporting that he heard throughout the week on the WWE European Tour that Sami Zayn had been discussed, and even tentatively planned for a world championship match before WrestleMania.
The Royal Rumble is an event that was named as a possibility before it was reiterated that the world title match could take place “likely before WrestleMania.” However, it’s not clear if plans have changed due to WWE recently making creative changes heading toward WrestleMania.
One source near WWE creative noted that Sami Zayn getting a world title match has been a story beat that many on the team were hoping the company would get to ever since Sami Zayn worked a storyline with Karrion Kross throughout 2025.
Sami Zayn will be in action this weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event as he’s set to face off against Randy Orton, Trick Williams and Damian Priest in a fatal four way to determine who will be challenging Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
