SummerSlam has been one of WWE’s biggest annual events and the show got even bigger in 2025 as WWE expanded the PLE to two nights. The 2025 edition of the SummerSlam premium live event featured some big moments, but the original card was different from what was ultimately presented.

The second season of WWE Unreal premiered on Netflix on Tuesday and the show gave fans a behind the scenes look at what was originally considered for the SummerSlam card, which includes the following matches:

– Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker
– Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins
– Jey Uso vs. Rusev
– Finn Balor (Demon) vs. Dominik Mysterio
– The Bella Twins vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez

Obviously this is drastically different from what we got at Roman Reigns teamed up with Jey Uso to face Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in a tag team match, and Sami Zayn faced off against Karrion Kross. Seth Rollins didn’t wrestle at SummerSlam as he was selling an injury, but later went on to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk.

The Bella Twins were supposed to step into the ring with Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez, but Liv Morgan unfortunately suffered an injury in June which kept her out of the ring for months. Ultimately neither Nikki nor Brie wrestled on the show as they simply appeared in the crowd, and Brie has yet to return to the ring since Nikki returned last year.

Finn Balor vs. Dominik is another match that didn’t happen as Dominik went on to successfully defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles at SummerSlam. It’s also interesting to note that WWE considered bringing the Demon version of Finn Balor back for the potential SummerSlam match.

Do you think the original SummerSlam card would have been better than what we got? Sound off in the comments below.
