John Cena is a very hot topic among wrestling fans right now as Cena is set to compete in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. The former champion will step into the ring with Gunther and win, lose, or draw, Cena’s in-ring career will be over by the time the match is through.

During a recent interview with Going Ringside, Sting was asked about John Cena’s upcoming retirement match, and he had nothing but praise for the 17 time world champion.

“Kudos to John. He’s one of the greatest of all time. I love to see it. I’m rooting for him. I’m hoping it turns out to be phenomenal, I’m sure that it will. I’m always rooting for those older guys, you know. Go Aaron Rodgers.”

Sting has teamed with a number of partners throughout his storied career, and he finally crossed paths with John Cena during the September, 14, 2015 episode of Raw when they teamed up to defeat Seth Rollins & Big Show.

In February of 2024, Sting officially retired from in-ring competition when he and Darby Allin defeated The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution. While Sting is retired from in-ring competition he does still make appearances on AEW programming from time to time.
