Recently there’s been a lot of talk about retirements in wrestling as Goldberg retired earlier this year, John Cena is retiring next month, and AJ Styles has confirmed that he’ll be retiring in 2026.
Now another retirement has been confirmed as The Headbangers have confirmed that they will stepping into the ring for their retirement match next year. The former WWE Tag Team Champions announced that their final match will take place on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026 at ISPW Legends of Wrestling Night in Wildwoods, New Jersey. As of this writing their opponents have not been revealed.

The Headbangers first signed with WWE in 1996 and they went on to win the WWE Tag Team Titles in 1997. Glenn Ruth (Thrasher) was released from WWE in 2000 and Charles Warrington (Mosh) was released in 2001. The duo briefly returned to WWE in 2016 and wrestled three matches on the SmackDown brand. In recent years they’ve remained active on the independent scene.
