This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was a very special episode as John Cena confirmed ahead of time that it would be his final appearance on the red brand. The former WWE Champion also confirmed that he would be competing in one final match on Raw.
John Cena wasted little time as he kicked off the show this week much to the delight of the fans in attendance at Madison Square Garden. The crowd was absolutely electric as they chanted Cena’s name before his official ring introduction.
The new WWE Intercontinental Champion started to talk about how important the moment was as he was interrupted by the former champion Dominik Mysterio. The fans drowned him out with boos as Dominik told Cena that no one wants to hear what he has to say.
Dominik demanded a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship, so Cena asked the New York fans if they wanted to see the match right now. Cena asked if Dominik was feeling froggy and Dom said, “no.” He told Cena that they’re going to do it his way. Dominik challenged John Cena to a match for the belt at Survivor Series and Cena accepted.
John told Dominik that he promised the fans at Madison Square Garden he’d be wrestling tonight. He put the IC Title aside and asked Dom if he felt lucky as Finn Balor and JD McDonagh interrupted. The Judgment Day attacked Cena 3 on 1, so Sheamus ran out to make the save. However, The Judgment Day beat him down too. Rey Mysterio then made his way down to the ring and the faces got the upper hand. Cena then challenged The Judgment Day to face him, Rey and Sheamus in a six man tag match. A referee ran down and rang the bell.
Ultimately Cena, Rey and Sheamus picked up the win after John Cena hit JD McDonagh with the Attitude Adjustment and pinned him for the three count.
