WWE has signed a number of wrestlers over the last few years, but in recent weeks some notable names have parted ways with the company. Andrade was recently released and he went on to return to AEW last week. Now it seems that another WWE star is on their way out the door.
Fightful Select is reporting that Santos Escobar’s contract with WWE is up very soon, and as of now it hasn’t looked like he will be staying with the company. The report notes that Santos Escobar’s contract is set to expire at midnight, and although the company made attempts to re-sign him Escobar passed on the offers.
Santos Escobar has previously worked with other companies such as Lucha Underground, CMLL, AAA and TNA Wrestling. The expectation is that he will be in demand once he becomes a free agent.
Escobar first signed with WWE in 2019 and joined the NXT brand. He went on to form the Legado Del Fantasma and was called up to the WWE main roster in 2022. In March of 2023, Rey Mysterio reformed the Latino World Order and invited Legado Del Fantasma to join the group. Eventually Escobar, Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza broke away from the LWO.
Over the last few months Santos Escobar has not been used regularly on television, and he last stepped into the ring at the WWE SuperShow in Mexico on July 27th.
Stay tuned for updates.
